As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our scouting team as a Senior Academy Scout.
Job Description: As a Senior Academy Scout, you will play a crucial role in identifying and recruiting talented young players to join the Manchester City Academy. Working closely with the Academy Director and Head of Recruitment, you will be responsible for scouting players across the UK and internationally, assessing their potential to succeed at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive scouting strategy to identify promising young players who meet the club’s criteria for talent and potential.
- Attend matches, tournaments, and scouting events to evaluate players and assess their technical ability, physical attributes, and mental aptitude.
- Build and maintain a network of contacts within the football community, including coaches, agents, and other scouts, to stay informed about emerging talent.
- Collaborate with Academy coaches and staff to provide detailed scouting reports and recommendations for player recruitment and development.
- Monitor the progress of identified players and provide ongoing feedback to the coaching staff to support their development pathway.
- Stay up-to-date with trends and innovations in scouting technology and methodology to enhance the effectiveness of the scouting process.
- Represent Manchester City Football Club professionally and ethically at all times, adhering to club policies and guidelines.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in football scouting, with a proven track record of identifying and recruiting talented young players.
- In-depth knowledge of football talent identification and player assessment, including an understanding of the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues, players, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for youth development and a commitment to the values and ethos of Manchester City Football Club.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends, to attend matches and scouting events.
- UEFA coaching qualifications and/or relevant academic qualifications in sports science, coaching, or related fields (desirable but not essential).
