Job Description:

NHS Brighton and Hove is seeking a dedicated School Health Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the delivery of health services within local schools, working closely with children, school staff, and healthcare professionals. The School Health Assistant will play a key role in promoting health education, administering basic care, and contributing to the wellbeing of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of health education programs and initiatives within schools.
  • Support the delivery of immunization and screening programs.
  • Provide first aid and basic healthcare to students as needed.
  • Assist with the maintenance of health records and ensure confidentiality of all student information.
  • Support the School Nurse or other healthcare professionals in daily tasks and during health assessments.
  • Help coordinate health-related events and parent information sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and healthcare providers.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children or in a school environment is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of health promotion and child development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon employment.
  • Empathy and a compassionate approach towards children and young people.
