We are now recruiting a committed and compassionate Refugee Resettlement Officer to help welcome and integrate individuals and families into our borough through the UK Resettlement Scheme and related humanitarian programmes.

In this role, you’ll provide person-centred support to help newly arrived refugees settle into their new lives, access vital services, and build a sense of belonging in Southwark. You’ll work directly with families, community partners, schools, and health providers to ensure wraparound care and long-term support.

🌍 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic casework support to resettled refugee families and individuals

  • Support access to housing, health, education, employment, and benefits services

  • Conduct home visits, needs assessments, and integration plans

  • Coordinate with local agencies, charities, and voluntary groups

  • Organise orientation sessions and community engagement activities

  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate case records and reports

  • Assist with interpretation services, cultural awareness, and safeguarding needs

  • Promote inclusive, trauma-informed practices across council services

👤 What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in case management, resettlement work, housing support, or community outreach

  • Understanding of refugee and asylum-seeking experiences, trauma, and cultural diversity

  • Knowledge of public sector systems: housing, welfare, health, and education

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – empathetic, patient, and solution-focused

  • Organised and confident working both independently and collaboratively

  • Second language (e.g. Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Kurdish, Ukrainian) is an advantage

  • DBS check required for this role

🎁 What We Offer

  • A rewarding role with real community impact

  • Competitive salary and benefits

  • Flexible working, including hybrid remote/office-based model

  • Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Access to training and professional development

  • Inclusive and supportive workplace culture

  • Wellbeing services and employee assistance programme
