Job Description:
Network Rail is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technician for Track Maintenance to join our Leeds team. This role is crucial for maintaining and repairing railway tracks to ensure safe and efficient train operations within the region. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team responsible for routine checks, emergency repairs, and general maintenance of railway infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on tracks, including rails, sleepers, and ballasts.
- Respond to and address emergency track faults and issues promptly.
- Operate specialized machinery and tools required for track maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers on track replacement, upgrades, and other construction projects.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and standards during maintenance operations.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately and report findings to the maintenance supervisor.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and safety knowledge.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in track maintenance or a similar role, ideally within the railway industry.
- Familiarity with railway safety and maintenance standards.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate specialized maintenance equipment.
- High level of physical fitness and the capability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance.
