Job Description:

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a diligent and meticulous Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This role is essential for supporting the efficient operation of our medical laboratories. The successful candidate will assist in the processing of laboratory samples, ensuring accurate results and timely support for diagnostic and treatment procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the receipt and processing of laboratory samples, including blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids.
• Ensure proper labeling, logging, and storage of samples in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures under the supervision of senior laboratory staff.
• Maintain and clean laboratory equipment and work areas, ensuring all environments are sterile and organized.
• Adhere to all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist in the management of laboratory inventory, ensuring supplies and reagents are well-stocked and properly stored.
• Provide administrative support within the laboratory, including data entry and record keeping.

Requirements:

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; further education in a scientific or healthcare-related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills for entering and managing data.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication skills.
