Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Shift Leader (Transport) to join our distribution center in Runcorn. The ideal candidate will oversee the transport operations, ensuring that the distribution of goods is carried out efficiently and effectively, while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate transport activities during your shift, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
• Supervise and lead a team of drivers and transport staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
• Monitor and manage the performance of the transport team, ensuring productivity targets and service levels are met.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and company policies, including health and safety regulations.
• Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles, optimizing routes to ensure efficiency.
• Handle any issues or discrepancies related to transport operations, resolving them promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including delivery times, vehicle usage, and fuel consumption.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, management, and external partners to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and development of transport staff as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a transport or logistics supervisory role is essential.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Good understanding of transport legislation and health and safety regulations.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in using transport management systems and basic computer applications.
• Ability to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• A proactive approach with problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
