Overview:
BBC Reading is seeking a dedicated Weekend Newsreader to join our dynamic news team. This position is ideal for a journalist with strong on-air presence and a passion for delivering news that informs and engages our audience. The successful candidate will present news items on weekends and support the news team in content preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Read news bulletins on air during weekend broadcasts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
- Collaborate with the news production team to prepare and update news content.
- Respond to breaking news with timely updates and accurate reporting.
- Engage with listeners through social media and other platforms to enhance audience interaction.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas for news stories and features.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in journalism, with a focus on broadcasting.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a clear, authoritative broadcasting voice.
- Ability to remain composed and articulate under live broadcast pressure.
- Strong understanding of current affairs and a keen interest in local and national news.
- A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
