Overview:

BBC Reading is seeking a dedicated Weekend Newsreader to join our dynamic news team. The successful candidate will present news items on weekends and support the news team in content preparation.

Responsibilities:

• Read news bulletins on air during weekend broadcasts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
• Collaborate with the news production team to prepare and update news content.
• Respond to breaking news with timely updates and accurate reporting.
• Engage with listeners through social media and other platforms to enhance audience interaction.
• Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas for news stories and features.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in journalism, with a focus on broadcasting.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and a clear, authoritative broadcasting voice.
• Ability to remain composed and articulate under live broadcast pressure.
• Strong understanding of current affairs and a keen interest in local and national news.
• A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
