Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Facilities Management Specialist to join our team at IKEA Exeter. This role involves overseeing the maintenance and operational efficiency of the store’s facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and contributing to the overall functionality and aesthetic of the IKEA environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to maintaining high operational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the store’s facilities, including maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage contracts and relationships with external service providers for maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinate and supervise the work of the facilities team and external contractors.
- Monitor and optimize building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of facilities and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve any facilities-related issues.
- Participate in budget planning and cost control related to facilities management.
- Promote a culture of safety and sustainability within the facilities team.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in using facilities management software and other relevant tools.
- Flexibility to respond to emergency situations and work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
- Relevant certifications in facilities management or building maintenance are a plus.
