Salary: £22,366 – £24,147 pro rata (Grade 2)


About the Role:

Oratory Catholic School is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in the daily operation of a vibrant and inclusive secondary school environment.

You will support the smooth running of the school by assisting with duties such as cleaning, setting up classrooms and dining areas, basic maintenance, and supporting site staff in keeping the premises safe and tidy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the general upkeep and cleanliness of school facilities

  • Set up and clear classrooms, dining areas, or event spaces as needed

  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and report any site issues

  • Support the caretaking team with deliveries and porterage

  • Follow all health, safety, and safeguarding procedures


About You:

  • Friendly and dependable with a positive attitude

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Basic knowledge of health and safety in a school or public building

  • Experience in a similar role (cleaning, maintenance, or caretaking) is desirable

  • Commitment to supporting a safe learning environment for children
