Job Title: Divisional Assistant
Location: Southwark, London (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £29,000 – £32,000 per annum (Grade 6, depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
🗂️ About the Role
Southwark Council is seeking a proactive and highly organised Divisional Assistant to provide vital administrative and organisational support to a senior leadership team within one of our key service divisions.
As a Divisional Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, coordinating communications, preparing documents, organising meetings, and helping manage complex diaries and workflows. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of local government, supporting a division that makes a direct impact on the lives of Southwark’s residents.
🔑 Key Responsibilities

Provide high-level administrative support to the Divisional Director and senior managers

Coordinate diaries, arrange meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, and monitor action logs

Manage correspondence and ensure effective communication within the team and with external partners

Support budget tracking and procurement processes where required

Maintain records, databases, and filing systems with accuracy and confidentiality

Assist in the planning and delivery of team projects, events, and reporting
-
Ensure administrative systems are efficient and continually improved
👤 What We’re Looking For

Strong administrative experience, ideally supporting senior managers or directors

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Confident communicator with strong written and verbal communication abilities

IT proficient – especially in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and Excel

Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

A team player with a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving

Experience working in local government or public sector is desirable but not essential
