Overview:
BBC Derby is looking for a dynamic Journalist to join our dedicated team. This role involves creating engaging content that resonates with our local audience, reporting on a variety of topics from community news and events to in-depth features about significant regional issues.
Responsibilities:
- Research, write, and produce compelling content across multiple platforms, including radio, television, and online.
- Develop and maintain local contacts and sources to enhance news gathering efforts.
- Collaborate with other team members to produce stories that are timely and impactful.
- Engage with the community through social media and other platforms to gather feedback and story ideas.
- Ensure all journalistic content adheres to BBC’s editorial guidelines and standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in journalism, with strong reporting, writing, and editing skills.
- Excellent understanding of the media landscape and current affairs, particularly within Derby and the surrounding areas.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
